Discovery Center 2025 Space Grant Interns
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center seeks two undergraduate or graduate students majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) fields to work with youth at the Discovery Center this summer. Interns will work with the Discovery Center’s Education Team to develop age-appropriate, STEM-based curricula and daily activities for the Center’s summer day camp series, and serve as lead summer camp teachers and counselors, creating an enjoyable, safe, challenging educational STEM camp for all Discovery Center campers, as well as other duties. Applicants should have a minimum of a high school degree, GED or equivalent and be enrolled in a college, community college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in a STEM field; at least three months’ experience in teaching and/or working with children is preferred. The ideal candidates will be self-starters with strong leadership and social skills, who enjoy working with children and who can positively challenge and encourage children to learn and explore. Due to federal (NASA) funding for this program, applicants must be U.S. citizens. Applicants will be subject to a background check. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
Salary: $15/hour, full-time during camp weeks, part-time before/after camp begins. Mid-to-late May through mid-August. Schedule is primarily Monday through Friday but may include some weekends and nights.
