Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. Our vision is one where anyone can participate equally in the excitement and exploration of astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science. Please contact us with any specific needs you may have and we will accommodate with to the best of our abilities.
Our facility has two floors. Services include:
- A wheelchair and motorized scooter for visitors who require such accommodation (available on a first come, first served basis).
- Elevator between floors.
- Assisted Listening Devices for theater presentations.
- One-on-one aides accompanying individuals with handicaps attend Discovery Center offerings free of charge.
- Space for 5-8 wheelchairs in our theater.
- Sign language interpreters for our major Aerospacefest presentations.
- Braille astronomy book on the solar system (available upon request).
*If you are unsatisfied with our compliance under Section 504, please contact Discovery Center Executive Director Jeanne Gerulskis at (603) 271-7827 or by mail at McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center, 2 Institute Dr., Concord, NH 03301. Director Gerulskis will respond to your complaints within 30 days of receipt of your complaint. If, after communicating with Director Gerulskis, you still do not feel that the matter has been satisfactorily resolved, you may request a hearing before the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center Commission. For rules on hearings before the Commission, please see PART Cmp 203 ADJUDICATIVE PROCEEDINGS at http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/rules/cmp100-300.html. The Commission meets quarterly; notices of meetings are posted in the NH State House elevators and in the Discovery Center foyer a minimum of three days in advance of each meeting.
